The Police and Crime Panel has published its scrutiny inquiry report into the West Midland’s Police and Crime Commissioner’s (PCC) arrangements for Community Safety Grants.
The Panel explored whether the current approach of dividing community safety funding between the seven districts was the most efficient and most likely to secure real outcomes for people. Questions were also posed on the grant conditions and monitoring arrangements.
The Panel’s report contains five principles for the PCC to consider when making a final decision on future funding (A local funding approach is vital, simplified monitoring arrangements, longer term funding, revisiting the proposed grant cuts and exploring opportunities for joint working across the districts).
The PCC has responded to our report. The report and the PCC’s response can be found on our publications webpage.
